Static migration is portable by definition. The thing we deliver — plain HTML, CSS, images, and a Git repo containing all of it — runs on any host that can serve files. Cloudflare Pages. Netlify. Vercel. GitHub Pages. S3. A Raspberry Pi. Your nephew's spare laptop.
You can leave us at any time. We will help you. That's not a marketing line — it's the architecture.
What you actually get
- A Git repository containing every HTML file, image, and asset of your migrated site. Yours. Cloned to GitHub or any host you prefer.
- A migration map documenting every URL and how it was preserved.
- A one-page handover guide with copy-paste deploy commands for the four hosts most likely to outlive us: Cloudflare Pages, Netlify, GitHub Pages, and AWS S3 + CloudFront.
- A contact for one free migration-out assistance if you ever decide to leave. We mean it.
How leaving us actually works
If you decide to host elsewhere — for any reason or no reason — the process is roughly:
- You email us. We reply with the Git repo URL and the handover guide. (Same day, usually.)
- You choose a static host. We recommend Cloudflare Pages or GitHub Pages, both free for personal use.
- You point your domain's DNS at the new host.
- The site is live on the new host. We don't lock anything; nothing breaks; we don't even need to be involved on the day of cutover if you don't want us to be.
No exit fees. No "data export" upsell. No "professional services" engagement to pry your content loose. The static artifact is the export.
What if it turns out Finland is not a real country?
Skadi Oy is a Finnish company. We plan to be around for a long time. We also know that "we plan to be around" is exactly what every defunct hosting service ever said.
So here's the contingency. If Skadi shuts down, gets acquired, or is otherwise unable to keep your site online:
- The Git repository containing your site has been in your hands since day one.
- The handover guide has been on your desk since day one.
- The deploy instructions cover the four hosts most likely to still exist in fifteen years.
- We'll publish an "if you're reading this, we're gone" note on this domain with one final migration script, signed and version-controlled in advance.
The static migration model means you're protected against our future failures by definition, not by promise. You don't need us to be solvent for your site to keep running.
